Beverly E. Thompson

November 10, 1942 ‒ May 09, 2008

Mount Gilead, Ohio

Beverly E. Thompson, age 65, of Mount Gilead, died on Friday morning, May 9, 2008, at the Woodside Village Care Center following sixteen years of illnesses.

She was born in Canton, Ohio, on November 10, 1942, the daughter of the late Halmer Griffith and Cleo (Daniels) Griffith Frank. Bev had attended Iberia High School and graduated as valedictorian from Tampa High School in Florida. Next, she attended college, where she studied law and business courses.

Beverly used her education to work as a legal secretary, and had worked for Electro Magnetic Sciences in Atlanta, Georgia. More recently, she worked for Attorney William Bringman in Fredericktown until she was no longer able because of her illnesses.

In 1972, Beverly returned to Morrow County, where she became a member of the Edison Enterprise Baptist Church.

When she was younger, Beverly loved to play the piano and organ in church, and with her beautiful voice she had sang on the radio.

Beverly enjoyed listening to books on cd, genealogy, and taking census throughout Morrow and the surrounding counties.

With her “happy go lucky” personality, Beverly could always get a smile out of her friends and family. At times she could be a bit ornery and even recently she had everyone “rolling” with laughter in the nursing home.

She will be missed by her husband, Grover Thompson Jr. of Mount Gilead; two sons: James Hernandez of Columbus, and Brian Thompson of Mount Gilead; three daughters: Diana Holcomb of Mount Gilead, Kim (Lee) Richerson of Warrenton, Virginia, and Elizabeth Principe of Mount Gilead; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Randy Smith of Galion; and one sister, Barbara (Wayne) Bean of Delaware.

Her family will greet friends on Tuesday from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Edison Enterprise Baptist Church, 3055 SR 95 W, Edison, where memorial services celebrating her life will follow immediately at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Ed Colegrove officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Snyder Funeral Homes of Mount Gilead.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
