Beverly Ann (Daly) Parker-Bertoia was born October 2, 1936 in Columbus, Ohio. She passed away peacefully at home on January 3, 2019. Bev was preceded in death by her beloved Peter “Pops” Bertoia, son Dana Parker, granddaughter Kali Drew, and her mother Ruth Daly.

She is survived by 5 children, Dirk (Theresa) Parker, Drew (Tammy) Parker, Dean (Teri) Parker, Donn (Shelly) Parker and Dene (Daniel) Slusser; 18 grandchildren and 24  great- grandchildren.

Bev was a graduate of Linden McKinley High School class of 1954. Founder of Dirko’s Pizza in 1980 in Columbus, Ohio, it is in its 39th year of business and is still thriving because of her guidance, hard work and determination.

She loved and welcomed everyone into her home, family and heart. She had many friends who were close in heart and spirit for many years- among those are Carri & John Baumbick, Johanna Conti, Laura Brown, Norma Rose, Bertie LaCorte, Donna Fortner, Carol Black, Connie Holder, the Bingo Beauties, and many others. Bev lived life to the fullest. She was an Irish Lass and St. Patrick’s day was her favorite holiday. She was also a  devoted Christian woman.

Beverly was truly one of a kind. She was the matriarch of a large family (there were 40+ family and friends at her house for Christmas this year). She was a devoted wife to the love of her life Pete, and the greatest mom that there could be. She was “MawMaw” &  “Gi Gi” to all of her grandkids and great grandkids.

The business she founded helped support most of her family for 39 years. Bev loved life. She loved Frank Sinatra and Willie Nelson, who she had the pleasure of seeing in concert last year. She was a fanatic for The Ohio State University & Notre Dame. She enjoyed traveling with Pete and her family.

Beverly lived a long fulfilling life. Although she could be stubborn and set in her ways, she also was compassionate and the one person you would want on your side in a pickle, or anytime for that matter. You were blessed if you were her friend. God Bless Her!!

  • Such a sweet and awesome lady. I’m so glad that I had the pleasure of knowing her, and working for her. My condolences to her entire family. May you find comfort during these hard times.

  • Lost a wonderful friend – Bev was the best. We’ve been friends for lots of years and we will miss her so much. She was the kindest, most caring person, not to mention her sense of humor. May she Rest In Peace. Love you, Bev

  • My dearest Beverly. They say don’t believe everything you read in the paper but I now have to believe and accept you have left this world to your home in Glory. Happy reunions on the streets of gold . I have spent almost 70 years with you in my life and it will be extremely hard to let you go. We gave this life a run for our money and the joy and tears we shared and our stories could fill a book. We grew older and wiser together sharing the same loves for our children and dedication and determination to do what we knew was needed of us. I will sorely miss you and cry for you. But, as we both learned that Jesus died to give us eternal life we shall be together again. And as the Bible tells us in Ecclesiastical 12 V 13: Let us hear the whole matter : Fear God and keep His commandments for this is the whole duty of man. You know I love you. My sister, my friend.

  • Rest in peace Bev. We lost contact over the years when I left Ohio and moved to Georgia, but the memories were always with me. We will meet again one day.

  • Laura and I had so many good times with Bev and Pete over the years. Just a few months ago, when she visited us for an overnight stay, she still had us laughing. We`ll miss her.

  • Deepest Sympathy to Dene and the entire family. Bev was such a good friend and I will miss our talks. She was a woman that most of us strive to be. Successful, loving, compassionate, caring and funny are some of the things that come to mind when I think of her. I will be forever thankful for knowing her. The Bingo Beauties will not be the same with her gone but please know that we are here for you and mourn with you. Continued Prayers.

  • My deepest sympathy to Drew, Cheri and Ashli and the Parker family. My thoughts and prayers will continue to be with you in the coming days ahead. She was a great lady with a heard of gold and loved by many.

  • Deepest sympathy to the Parker Family for their loss.
