Betty Oswalt

October 02, 1929 ‒ December 11, 2018

Butler, Ohio

BUTLER: Betty Oswalt, 89, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2018 in her home surrounded by her family.

She was born October 2, 1929 in Greer, Ohio the daughter of Walter and Hellen (Pigman) Darr.

A lifelong area resident, Betty married Royd Oswalt on April 13, 1946 and together they raised their family of eight children.

Betty retired from Gorman Rupp Industries in Bellville with over 20  years of service. She enjoyed playing cards, especially games of Euchre and Poker.  Betty loved trips to Wheeling to try her luck at the casinos and when travel wasn’t possible she had to settle for lottery scratch off tickets.

Blessed with an ornery sense of humor, Betty was quick witted.  She also had a sweet side and will be remembered for her caring and giving nature.  First and foremost in Betty’s life was her family.

Surviving are her children Roger and Sheila Oswalt, Robert Oswalt, Raymond “Nick” and Deborah Oswalt, Jean and Mike Thompson, and Nancy and Jerry Partin all of Butler; daughter-in-law Pamela Oswalt of Bellville; 20 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Royd in 1999; children Ronald “Pete” Oswalt, Linda Yarger, and Randall “Dude” Oswalt; grandsons Jon Oswalt and Scott Tollison; and two great grandchildren.

The Oswalt family will receive friends Friday, December 14, 2018 from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home with a funeral service immediately following at 3 p.m. Pastor Ken Kinley will speak with burial to follow in Bunkerhill Cemetery.  All are invited to home of Roger and Sheila Oswalt following the services for a time of fellowship.
