Betty Marie Wagner, 93, of Galion passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Magnolia Terrace in Galion.

Born September 13, 1922 in Youngstown, she was the daughter of Fernley Andrew and Josephine A. (Bertrand) Reed . She married Merwin Wirth Wagner on June 14, 1947 and he preceded her in death on July 24, 1969.

She was a graduate of Boardman High School in 1941 and a graduate of Youngstown Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse and then attended the Youngstown College. She worked as a registered nurse in Youngstown and Shaker Square for the Youngstown Hospital prior to moving to Galion in1947 where she worked at the Galion Community Hospital. She then went back to school first at the Ashland University and then The Ohio State University obtaining her Nursing Home Administrators License at which time she helped John Fox open the former Rosewood Manor Nursing Center in Galion where she worked as administrator for many years until retiring in 1984

Betty is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Christine “Chris” and Richard Carpenter of Galion and Martha Jean “Marty” and John Poffenbaugh of Galion, four grandchildren, Amy Scott, Angie Patrick and Paige and John Poffenbaugh, II; several great grandchildren and a brother, Fernley Reed of Youngstown.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two infant daughters and an infant son. .

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 am Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 11 am Tuesday, with Pastor Richard Genzman officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Galion.

Memorial contributions may be made to Peace Lutheran Church in care of the funeral home.
