Betty L. Decker, age 91 of Ashley passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Delaware Health Care Center following a brief illness.

She was born on August 15, 1925 in Delaware County to the late Harry and Edna (Higgins) Zimmerman.

Growing up, Betty worked hard on the farm bailing hay. She also enjoyed raising horses and roller skating. She loved to crochet and knit, crocheting baby outfits for charity and she also sewed almost all of her own clothes. Raising various types of birds, she also spent years competing in the poultry shows at the Delaware County Fair.

Betty began working in the production line as an assembler at Ranco Manufacturing in Plain City in 1958 and she retired after 30 years.

Left to cherish her memory is her niece and care taker, Kathy (Kim) Rowlands of Ashley; nephews, Mickey (Linda) Landon of Marion, Dick (Cathy) Jackson of Ashley and Gene (Lynda) Jackson of Delaware; sister, Gertrude Thatcher of Delaware; and her best friend of over 59 years, Mary June Dryer of Delaware.

In addition to her parents, Betty was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Ruth Jackson and H. Lucille Landon Carroll.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 11:00 am at Marlborough Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Snyder Rodman Funeral Center in Delaware.
