Betty Jane Shaw, age 82 of Delaware passed away Monday, November 22, 2010 at Mt. Carmel West in Columbus.

She was born on January 08, 1928 in Leonardsburg to the late Ernest and Stella (Terry) Moodespaugh . In 1945 she married Homer “Bud” Shaw and shared 43 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 1988. A lifelong area resident, she was a restaurateur until 1985.

Betty and her husband owned and operated the former Lunch Box and Bus Station restaurants in Delaware as well as the Wayside Truck Stop. Since 1987 she was Grandma Betty to numerous children that she cared for.

A member of Grace United Methodist Church, she enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting and reading books, especially biographies. Betty was a wonderful cook of all dishes, her good home cooking and watchful instruction will long be remembered.

She would list her attributes in her own humble way, “I was just Betty Shaw”. But to her loving family she was never selfish; she fed those in need freely from her restaurants over the holidays. Always thoughtful, she was fun loving and honest. She played an important role in the lives of many.
