Betty J. Ault

June 16, 1925 ‒ May 29, 2009

Morral, Ohio

Betty J. Ault, 83, of Morral died late Friday afternoon May 29, 2009 at Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky.

She was born on June 16, 1925 in Fulton, Ohio the daughter of the late Frank and Cora (Partlow) Foust.

Betty was a graduate of Harding High School in the class of 1943. After graduation she worked at the Army Depot to save money for a train ride to San Francisco, California. A certain John B. “Ben” Ault was stationed off the coast of California and Betty wanted to be closer to him. In the fall she made that trip and soon after they were united in marriage on September 29, 1943.

It was in San Francisco where they met Bernie and Gerry Johnson. Ben and Bernie were stationed together in the Navy and Betty and Gerry lived together during that time. They became devoted and lifelong friends, spending many holidays and vacations together as family.

Betty had a passion for cooking and was fortunate enough to use that passion; she was employed as the head cook at Ridgedale Schools for 15 years. Her family recalls her pies and deserts, especially her pecan cinnamon rolls.

A woman of great faith, she was a member of the Meeker United Methodist Church. Betty was very active within the church as a member of the Woman’s Circle and Bible study, Sunday school teacher, and church treasurer.

Her social nature and love of cards led her to Euchre clubs, that she and Ben participated in, and a woman’s “Contract” Rummy club.

While Betty was well rounded and active those she cherished most were her family. Her husband Ben of 65 years; their two sons and their spouses, Michael and Sharon Ault of Walled Lake, Michigan, and Gary and Judy Ault of Upper Sandusky; and four grandchildren and three great grandchildren, her “Little Angels” Kevin (Jessica) Ault of Upper Sandusky, Kristin Ault of Columbus, Megan (Joe) Schuck of Cincinnati, Kristen Toney of Toledo, and Benjamin, Chloe, and Scyler.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings Bob, Ralph, Walter, and Richard Foust and Minnie Logan, Martha Darnell, and Hazel Price.

Friends may call on the family on Monday June 1, 2009 from 4-7 p.m. at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center Street, Marion. Funeral services will be held there on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Rozell Sattler officiating. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.
