Betty E. Phillips, age 78 of Delaware, passed away unexpectedly Friday August 17, 2012 at her residence to be united with the love of her life, her husband Floyd.

She was born on May 11, 1934 in Derby, Pickaway County to the late Earl Russell and Rebecca (Funk) Nance. She was a homemaker and resided in Delaware since about 1952.

Betty loved children, doing babysitting for other people. Betty also looked forward to shopping on Saturday, eating out and playing the lottery.

Survived by her son: Ted ( Alice) Phillips of Delaware; grandchildren: Brian (Kellie) Ayers, J. Christopher (Cassandra) Ayers, Scott Ayers; 10 great grandchildren, 1 great–great grandchild; brothers: Marvin Nance of Mt. Sterling, Donald Johnson of Cincinnati; sisters: Mary Elizabeth Hatley of Dayton, Ruth Eubanks of Hillsboro, Judy Howson of Gahanna, Sandra Black of Columbus, Sally Terry of Grove City; aunt: Louise Lockwood; best friend: Sandra Belville, nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband of 54 years: Floyd Phillips on August 11, 2006; brothers: Ronnie Nance, Russell Nance, Jack Nance, Raymond Nance, William Hinton; sister: Bernadine Williams; grand daughter-in-law: Kristy Ayers.

Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William Street. Graveside services will be held Wednesday 11 a.m. at the Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Sterling with Rev. Dortha Ross officiating.
