Beth Lyon

Marengo, Ohio

Beth (Hunter) Lyon, age 46, of Marengo, died peacefully on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family following a long, courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer.  Beth, a Licensed Practical Nurse, was honored to care for countless nursing home residents, most recently at Bennington Glen in Marengo. She adored the elderly and became like family to many.

Beth was preceded in death by her father, James D. Hunter, and is survived by her husband, Fred Lyon; daughter, Sophie, triplets, Will, Jessie and Maddie; mother, Liddie Jo (Dials) Hunter; sisters, Eula (Mike) McCown, Janet Thompson, Pamela (Michael) Malcosky, and Samantha Fisher; as well as devoted canine companions, Prim and Bitty Bit.

  • Beth, you were a light in this world and a treasured Sole Sister! I know everyone in Heaven will be asking you about your blue soles! Have fun dancing in your Poppies sweet lady ♥️

  • You’ll be the most beautiful, stylish angel in the heavens. I know you’ll be wearing your favorite poppies and showing them all the magic of the blue soles. RIP #soulsister

  • I will always think of you when I wear my puppies. May yours lead you into heavens grand gates. Prayers for the family during this time, will miss seeing your wonderful posts in our tieks page. RIP #solesister

  • Beth, we unfortunately never met in person, but I saw your posts on TA and also on your profile. What I saw was such a brave, dynamic, spunky as heck fighter, and I was so inspired. When I was struggling myself, I would also check to see how you were doing, and regardless of your situation, you were positive and real. You gave me hope. You also helped me to keep fighting for myself, and I am proud to say that I’ve been in remission from my severe Major Depressive Disorder for over 13 months. You were clearly a force to be reckoned with on Earth and anyone who knew you or came across your journey was so lucky. I wish you all the joy and bliss Heaven has to offer and I will be praying for peace and comfort for your family and loved ones. Soar high and proud, Fighter. I will forever think of you when I wear my Poppies.

  • Sweet, hilarious Beth! She was definitely a sole sister, a soul sister and a Bosom Buddy. She reached out to me so many times during my cancer treatment and I will always remember her kindness & humor. Will wear my poppies and hoist one in her honor. Prayers go out to her family and friends.

  • Sending love to you, my dear Tieks sister & fellow Ohioan. I lost my mother to metastatic cancer in 2004, so I found true inspiration in your journey to live bravely & fearlessly, enjoying each minute you had. I’ll think of you whenever I reach for my poppy Tieks. #solesister #tieksfamily

  • It’s rare that you find yourself writing condolences for a complete stranger, but Beth didn’t feel like a stranger. She joined a group of shoe loving gals and inspired us with her grace. She posted her #dyinginstyle in style photos and changed our perspectives. I’m glad our paths crossed, even if only virtually. She has forever left a mark in our hearts and we pray for her loved ones. Rest In Peace Beth.

  • I thought of you recently before I even heard the news. Your spunky attitude was always a great reminder that how you face a situation can matter more than the situation itself. Your #dyinginstyle hashtag made some uncomfortable, but it was your way of taking some power back and owning your destiny. Wishing you peace in your next journey! #tiekssisters #ontothebigpoppiesinthesky

  • Beth you were such a positive light in our Tieks group and I’ll forever remember your journey. You fought hard. Love and light to your family, may you all find peace during this difficult time.

  • Lyon’s family – like many, I loved getting to know Beth through Tieks Anonymous. She shared her journey with us with her #dyinginstyle updates. You’re all in my thoughts and prayers. Sending love from Arkansas.

  • Condolences and peace, Beth I never did meet you my Tieks sister, but your positive spirit was always a bright light in my day, poppies will be picked from our field here in Italy, and put on the table on June 1. Thinking about you, and your family with peace & prayers and love.

  • First, my deepest condolences to her family and loved ones, I’ll keep you in my prayers. I can’t find the words to express how sad I am about her passing. I knew her only through the Tieks Anonymous page but with all her regular uplifting posts she made, it felt like I knew her personally and like she was actually a friend of everyone’s in the group. No matter how much pain she was in and despite her diagnosis, she remained positive and encouraging to others who were facing their own struggles. She also had such a great sense of humor about her and was a beautiful soul both inside and out. Now, every time I wear my poppy’s, I will be reminded of Beth and her love of life. Rest In Peace and see you in paradise on earth one day. 🙏🏼❤️

  • Fly high, sole sister! You were a light that burned out too soon! Love and prayers to Fred and family!

  • For a woman I never met I felt an intense admiration for. Beth allowed us into her life; sharing her pain and struggle with an intense honesty and self deprecating humor. I found myself gravitating to the TA page just to get an update on her because her struggle touched me deeply. I could see the love and admiration she felt for her family in every post. Take solace in knowing that Beth lives on in all of you. That every goal you set and mountain each of you climb she is with you in every step. She certainly did an amazing job with the family she spoke so proudly of. Sending hope of peace during these next days. And so glad that Beth chose to open her life to each of us. We are all better for it.

  • My sincerest condolences to the entire Lyon family. I didn’t personally know Beth, but like so many others, I knew her for her love of Tieks. I will forever admire her realism and honesty regarding her battle with cancer. She always managed to keep it upbeat with her #DyingInStle hashtag. I honestly believe she taught each and everyone of us who followed her story how to live life to the fullest. Her life mattered and was impactful to so many. May the loving memories you hold get you through this difficult time. Blessings to you all. Fly high sole sister. Whenever I see my poppy Tieks, I will think of you.

  • Beth had such an impact on us all: with her truth, her humour, and her impeccable fashion. She showed me how I want to leave the stage when it’s my turn. All my heart and love go out to her family, her husband, her children at this time. Her bright light will be greatly missed. Thanks for sharing her with us, Lyons family. With much love, from another shoe friend.

  • I will miss your style and wittiness. May your poppies guide you for the next chapter. Much love sole ister

  • I did know know Beth, but I did read her posts. I was moved deeply. My mother being a breast cancer survivor twice! I am deeply saddened but happy she is no longer in pain. As everyone has said “fly high Beth”. I am sure you will be deeply missed by everyone and your “TA “ extended family also! Prayers for your family and everyone that knew and loved you.

  • I worked with Beth many years ago, she always loved to talk about the triplets. She loved everyone around her, I’ve lost touch over the years but watched from afar. Im so sorry for your loss, she was an amazing woman.

I give her all the credit for how organized and well run it was; there wasn’t anything she didn’t have in place. • You were such a bright light, Beth. I will continue to pray for the peace and comfort of your beautiful family.
    #solesister

  • When I moved away from Morrow County 12 years ago, I didn’t have as much contact with Beth. We worked together at Bennington Glen, and shared stories of running and dieting attempts, her new house dreams, as well as relationship talks. Her first daughter and my son were in kindergarten together and we enjoyed discussing this experience….our kids going off to school full time …any mom’s significant event 🙂 She and I laughed about her neighbor stories (my in-laws) and Marlene often visiting her unexpectedly. Of course, Beth was sharing deeper concern for her well-being snd despite the chuckles, the information was significant for the family to provide a more supportive plan. I always admired Beth despite our distance. I saw the cancer diagnosis occur, and watched her posts unapologetically be so real and vulnerable. Enough to make someone a bit uncomfortable. But, what you learned was to mature in that discomfort…better understand her discomfort, better understand those affected by cancer, and to think and understand more. I learned from Beth, and I admire her. Rest In Peace beautiful Beth ❤️

  • To the Lyon family- may the huge hole in your life be filled with wonderful memories, peace and love.
