Bertha L. Robinette, age 84, of Mount Gilead and formerly of Palms, California, passed away at her home Saturday afternoon, November 23, 2019.

On March 28, 1935, Bertha was born in Abbs Valley, Virgina, a daughter of the late Frank Hudson and Annie Mae (Grubb) Atwell.

Bertha married Robert G. Robinette on August 12, 1955 in Columbus, OH.  Bertha and Robert spent most of their lives in California, and enjoyed time together at the First Christian Church in Yucca Valley.  They shared over 63 wonderful years as husband and wife before he preceded her in death on August 28, 2018.

Bertha had a special love for animals, especially dogs.  She showed dogs for many years and had a favorite Chihuahua named “Sissy.”  She also had another special pet, her turtle “Sammy.”

Bertha will be remembered as a pleasant lady and a wonderful sister.  She always made sure to let you know she was “the boss.”

Bertha will be dearly missed by her three children: Dolores (Craig) Gillilan, Robert “Bobby” (Phyllis) Robinette of CO, Barbara Robinette of TN; two grandchildren: Evan and Shannon; four great grandchildren; two sisters: Jane Shrader of Marengo, Peggy Harrison of Mount Gilead; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers: Archie, Jessie, Hudson, Robert, Raymond and Johnny.

Graveside services to honor and celebrate Bertha’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2019, at Marengo Cemetery, with Pastor Ed Colegrove officiating.

Bertha’s sister Peggy would like to thank Hospice of Morrow County, Pastor Ed and Suzie Colegrove, her sister, Jane Shrader and the rest of her family and friends for the loving care they gave to Bertha throughout her illness.
