Bernard Russell “Bernie” Casper Sr., age 88, of Hillcrest Drive, Mount Vernon, died Friday March 7, 2003 at his home. He was born on March 21, 1914 in Utica, Ohio to the late Bernard “Ben” and Goldie M. (Farley) Casper. Mr. Casper retired in 1979 after 16 years of employment with Diamond Glass Company. He was a member of the Utica Church of Christ and enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing.
He is survived by a son Bernard R. (Beverly) Casper Jr. of LaGrange, Kentucky, a grandson Cameron Casper and a brother, Ed Casper of Utica, Ohio.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Eileen (Burkholder) Casper, a brother, Rufus Casper and four sisters, Louise Bond, Gertrude Pesta, Florence Davis and Mary Newmaster.
A funeral service will be held Monday at 2 PM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 East High Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050, where friends may call from 12 noon until the time of service. Rev. Jamie Gump will be officiating. Burial will follow in Owl Creek Cemetery.
