H. Berdene Kaeser, of 1575 Yauger Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio, died Monday, March 8, 2004, at Knox Community Hospital following a brief illness.
Mrs. Kaeser was born June 21, 1913, in East Sparta, Ohio, the first child of the late Wallace Arner and Eva Koonley Arner. She received her BA degree from Malone College, and taught in Stark County for 21 years.
A lifelong Lutheran, she was an active volunteer in a variety of educational, social ministry, and community activities, especially in years of better health. From 1978 to 1996, she resided in Cary, North Carolina, where her volunteer activities were recognized by WRAL-TV.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Werner D. Kaeser; by her sister, Aletha Arner; and by her son, the Rev. David W. Kaeser. She is survived by her sister, Goldie John, of Massillon, Ohio; by her brother, Stanley Arner, and his wife, Mildred, of Pulaski, Virginia; by two children and their spouses: Anita Anderson and her husband, Richard, of Howard, Ohio; Paul Kaeser and his wife, Mary, of Atlanta, Georgia; her daughter-in-law, Edwina Kaeser, of Wilson, North Carolina; and by 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors at Faith Lutheran Church on Friday, March 12, at 9:30 AM, with Memorial Service to follow at 11:00 AM at the church. Interment will occur in Oakwood Cemetery, Raleigh, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be made either to Faith Lutheran Church (170 Mansfield Avenue, Mount Vernon, OH 43050) or to Grace Lutheran Church (PO Box 2505, Washington, NC 27889), the mission congregation established by her late son.
