BELLVILLE: Beatrice Frances Whicker Landis, 84, formerly of Mifflin, died Friday, September 1, 2006 in Country Meadow Care Center following a long illness.
She was born September 7, 1921 to John C. B. and Sarah E. (Gabbard) Whicker in Kansas, Ohio. Bea was graduated from Bettsville High School in 1939, and earned the honor of salutatorian.
On January 18, 1941 she married Keith Landis who preceded her in death on September 2, 1980.
Primarily a homemaker, Beatrice’s first priority was tending to her children and keeping a happy home. She also worked at J.C. Penny Department store in Ashland.
Beatrice enjoyed crossword puzzles and word games.
She was a member of Mansfield Baptist Temple for 34 years, where she and her husband Keith were baptized in the Lord. Bea and Keith are finally reunited in heaven with their Father.
Beatrice is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law
Steve and Linda Landis of Columbus, and Ron and Kim Landis of Bellville; a daughter and son-in-law Karen and Jeff Misko of Lakeland, Colorado; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren, and a sister-in-law Elvira Whicker.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by seven sisters and brothers-in-law Ida Mae and Art Soule; Ethel and Clayton Sexton; Nora and Ralph Edinger; Mary Ellen and Sam Stahl; Bertha and Charles Wollam; Martha and Louie Clark; and Virginia and David Mankin; and a brother Wilson Whicker.
Friends may call Tuesday, September 5, 2006 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, (U.S. Route 42, south of Hanley Road) where the funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 am. Pastor Dale Adkins will officiate. Burial will follow at Hayesville- Vermillion Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to Mansfield Baptist Temple may be made at the funeral home.
