Bart R. Winand

September 27, 1962 ‒ December 08, 2017

Butler, Ohio

BUTLER:  Bart Winand was a sports fanatic.  He cheered for Ohio sports teams, especially the Clear Fork Colts.  More than just a sports fanatic, Bart was patient, soft spoken, hard working…. he was his children’s greatest supporter.  Cheering and coaching them in both athletics and academics he invested in his family.

Bart R. Winand, of Butler, passed away Friday afternoon following a courageous battle with cancer.  He was just 55.

The son of Wilford “Kirby” and Joyce (Williams) Winand, Bart was born September 27, 1962 in Mt. Gilead and graduated from Northmor High School in 1980.

For over 30 years, Bart worked for Kokosing Construction Company as a Labor Foreman.  It was at a company golf outing that he first met Karla DeLong.  The two married May 6, 1989 and together raised four children.

Involved in his children’s athletics, Bart’s patience and quiet demeanor made him a great and successful youth sports coach.

Hardworking and kind Bart leaves a legacy of devotion and humility.

He is survived by his devoted wife Karla Winand of Butler; children Taylor, Ridge, Bailey, and Tanner Winand all of Butler; brother Brent (Ronda) Winand;  sisters-in-law Linda (Greg) Tedrow and Rhonda DeLong; nieces and nephews David, Ashley, Ryan, Shelby, and Brady; father-in-law and  mother-in-law Doyle (Nancy) DeLong.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 12, 2017 from 2-8pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 am.  Rev. David Aune will officiate and burial will follow in Bunkerhill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to benefit the education of his children and may be made to the Bart Winand Memorial Fund through Richland Bank, or to Holiday Happiness (a christmas gift program for children in the Butler area) checks may be made to the Senior Adult Center: Holiday Happiness.

  • Karla and kids,
We are deeply sorry for your loss. Bart was one of the most sincere and kind men that we have been fortunate enough to spend time with. His soft-spoken and patient coaching style was always a great testimony to the gentle man that he was. His legacy still lives on, not only through his wonderful children, but through the boys that he influenced on the Mustangs and undoubtedly on other teams that he coached. Our prayers have been and will continue to be with you during this difficult time. May God ease your pain and comfort you.
    Sincerely,
    Mike, Jackie, and Adam Hartz
