Barbara Jean “Jeannie” Piatt, age 66, of Mount Vernon, died Wednesday February 25, 2009 at the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus. Jeannie was born October 2, 1942 in Mount Vernon. She attended school in Homer and graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1960. She was employed at the Mount Vernon Telephone Company for nine years and retired from the Weyerhaeuser Corporation in Mount Vernon after twenty-five years of employment as a machine operator.
Jeannie was a member of the Gay Street United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon and enjoyed country dancing at the Colonial City Moose Lodge in Mount Vernon.
Surviving are her husband Terry L. Piatt whom she married July 13, 1968. Also surviving are her granddaughter Jessica (John Hoar) Piatt; great granddaughter Caitlynn Hoar; her father Emerson Foreman Sr. of Mount Vernon; her siblings Carol (C.J.) Junkin of Westerville, Emerson (Debbie) Foreman Jr. of Apple Valley, and Tresa (Charles) Winter Jr. of Mount Vernon; her special friend whom was like a daughter Molly Armstrong and dear friends Ron and Joyce Underwood of Mount Gilead. Jeannie was preceded in death by her mother Hattie Virginia Foreman and her son Eric Piatt.
Friends may call Thursday February 26, 2009 from 5 PM to 8 PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon. Funeral services will be Friday February 27, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the Gay Street United Methodist Church, 18 North Gay Street, Mount Vernon with Rev. Dr. David Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery at Johnstown.
