Barbara J. Huffman, 84, of Galion passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Galion Pointe.

She was born April 8, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan and was the daughter of Wilfred and Marjorie (Tolmie) Gagne.

Barbara worked at the Galion Community Hospital for 22 years and attended Calvary Baptist Church in Bucyrus. She was a member of the Galion Women of the Moose Lodge 177, Crestline Eagles Auxiliary, TWIG of Galion Community Hospital and volunteered at Signature HealthCARE in Galion.

Barbara enjoyed her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, crocheting and cross stitching. She had an ornery streak and will be remembered for her homemade pies and her Carrot cake.

She is survived by twin daughters, Pauline Whitesel of Lexington and Paula (Chuck) Beck of Galion; five grandchildren, Karen (Louie) Cortez, Brenda (Mike) Hedrick, Stephanie (Travis Pence) Whitesel, Stephen Whitesel and Alexis Beck; 12 great-grandchildren; brother Wilfred “Ted” Gagne and a sister Marjorieann (Dale) Hurst.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her companion of over 15 years, Monty “Joe” Hallmark; brother George Gagne, sister Gloria Chipps and special pet companions, Angel and Wendy.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2020 at Fairview Cemetery in Galion with Pastor Ken Lance officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.

  • Paula and Pauline, I loved your mom so much! She was one of the absolute best unit clerks that Galion Hospital ever had! I will forever cherish my many memories of working with her and most recently chatting with her in the hospital gift shop. She loved you ladies so fiercely and passionately! I know she has now seen the face of Jesus and is home at last! Praying for all of you that God will strengthen you, comfort you and give you peace during this most difficult time in your lives.

    My heart breaks at learning of Barb’s passing. She always gave me a warm hug and talked to me about my mom. She was a loving and beautiful woman. May God keep you in his loving arms as you mourn the loss of Barb. I love her to pieces and will keep her in my heart forever!!!!!!
