Barbara “Barb” J. Daugherty
April 22, 1949 ‒ May 09, 2006
Mount Gilead and Columbus, Ohio
Barbara “Barb” J. Daugherty, age 57, of Mount Gilead unexpectedly went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 9, 2006, following injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Barb was born at St. Ann’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, on April 22, 1949, the daughter of the late John Victor and Rose Ella (Christian) Edinger. She graduated from the Northridge High School in the Class of 1967.
On June 27, 1998, Barb married her loving husband and soulmate Jim Daugherty of Mount Gilead.
She worked as a communications engineer for over 30 years for Ameritech, retiring in 2000.
Of much faith, Barb was a founding member of the New Hope Community Fellowship Church in Westerville, where she had served as a treasurer, and attended the Pulaskiville Community Bible Church. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneer’s Club of America, a charity organization for retired communication workers.
Good with her hands, Barb enjoyed crocheting, cross stitching, and scrapbooking. She also enjoyed fishing and mowing.
With “a heart larger than life,” Barb would give you the shirt of her back to lend a helping hand. Barb was “the best woman” some will ever know, as she found beauty in the best and worst of everyone.
Cherished by her family and friends, Barb was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her husband, Barb will be dearly missed by her sons Chris (Missy) Mulbay of Chesterville, and Matthew Burris of Marion; grandchildren Elizabeth, Christina, Brandi, Tyler, and Ashley; twin brother John Thomas (Darlene) Edinger of Columbus; and a sister Rose (Mike) Lott of Reynoldsburg.
The family will greet friends on Saturday from 2 – 4 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, 76 South Main Street, Mount Gilead, where memorial services will immediately follow at 4:00 p.m. with Pastors Al Cordray, Gary Holman, and Bob Smith officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Touching Little Lives, Inc. (Westerville Branch), 4300 Winchester Southern Rd., Circleville, Ohio 43113.
