Avery Gerald “Cutter” Adams

BELLVILLE: Avery Gerald “Cutter” Adams went to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 6, 2016 in Country Meadow Care Center. He was 92.
He was born March 29, 1924 in Piney, West Virginia to parents Roger & Ethel (Sturgis) Adams. After he was graduated from high school, he proudly served his country by joining the US Army and serving during World War II.
A beautiful young lady named Ruth Meneely caught his eye and the pair soon married on June 29, 1946. Cutter worked as a truck driver for years, where he was self-employed until retiring.
He was a part of the Masonic Toronto Lodge No. 583 as well as the Mid-Ohio Winnebago Club.
Cutter never met a meat that he couldn’t smoke. His specialty was smoking meats including boloney and sausage as well as curing bacon. He enjoyed being able to cook. He didn’t have a specialty because everything he made was delicious. He also loved to travel and simply enjoyed going different places.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Ruth Adams of Bellville; daughters Barbara (Robert) Wagner of Lexington and Joyce (Ronald) Tilton of Bellville; son John Adams of Bellville; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and one on the way; brother Charles (Judy) Adams of Bellville, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family
In addition to his parents, Cutter was preceded in death by; son James Adams; daughter-in-law Mona Adams; brothers Merle Adams and Roger Adams; sister Wavaline Rawson.
His family would like to extend a special thank you to the Ohio Health Hospice and the staff at Country Meadows Care Center for their care and attention they gave to Cutter.
The Adams family will receive friends Friday, July 8, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home and will continue Saturday, July 9, 2016 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. where a funeral service honoring Cutter’s life will begin immediately at 11:30 a.m. Pastor Dave Bates will officiate. Burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery. Military honors will be performed by the American Legion Post #535.
Contributions in Cutter’s memory to Jefferson Township-Bellville Rescue Squad may be made at the funeral home.
