Arthur R. Kartman, age 91, of Mount Vernon, Ohio and formerly of Wheeling, West Virginia, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at his residence. He was born on April 13, 1926 in Wheeling, West Virginia the son of Stephen and Anna (Sgitas) Kartman. Arthur proudly served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1953 and the United States Navy Reserve. He was a longtime member of Carpenters Local #3 and an employee of Jarvis, Downing and Emch, Inc.

He is survived by his wife Shirley (Stevenson) Kartman; a son, Bob (Cassandra) Kartman of Groveport; two daughters, Becky (George) Sadler of Morgantown, West Virginia and Jeanine (Bob) Davis of Canton, Michigan; step son, Ken (Joyce) Applegarth of Mount Vernon; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Rebecca (Siegel) Kartman; step son, Mark Applegarth; brothers, Edward and Carl Kartman; sisters, Eileen Stobaugh and Eleanore Fulton.

The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Arthur R. Kartman. The family will observe a private service at a later date.
