Arthur L. Wolford, age 61, of 203 Ridgewood Ave., Mount Vernon died Monday July 1, 2002 at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. Art was born May 22, 1941 in Howard and had spent most of his lifetime in the Knox County area. For several years he owned and operated Belle’s Tavern in Millersburg. Art was retired from DMI Distribution in Columbus where he was employed as a forklift operator.

He was a member of the Mount Vernon Moose Lodge, the VFW, AMVETS and Eagles Lodge all in Mount Vernon.

Surviving are his wife Etta Jean (Bickel) Jones Wolford; his mother Marcella (Alberts) Wolford of Mount Vernon; two sons Arthur “Artie” (Melodie) Wolford and Jeffrey (Beth) Wolford both of Mansfield; a stepson David Edward (Joy) Jones of Galesburg, Michigan; four stepdaughters Nancy Jean (Ken) Cook of Monroe, Louisiana, Barbara Jane (Don) Hamm and Ruth Ann (Delbert) Bowman both of Mount Vernon and Debra Maxine (Garry) Snavely of Utica; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; five brothers Paul (Juanita) Wolford, Joseph (Faye) Wolford, John (Nancy) Wolford and George (Ellen) Wolford all of Mount Vernon and Jim (Mildred) Wolford of Howard and three sisters Rosalie (Don) Emmert and Otis Wolford both of Mount Vernon and Millie (Carl) Boyd of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by a brother Walter Wolford and a nephew George Wolford.

Friends may call Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon where Eagles Lodge memorial services will be held at 9 PM Wednesday. Funeral services will be Friday at 10 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Rodney Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
