Arnold Anderson, 93 of Delaware passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born November 30, 1924 in Bygland, Minnesota, one of 9 children born to the late Isaac & Gunhild (Qualey) Anderson.

Arnold was drafted into the United States Army, and proudly served his country during WWII, and would donate his time and finances to supporting VFW chapters.

He later worked for DT&I Railroad Company in Michigan, where he was a relief worker, filling in for gentlemen who would leave on vacation, or personal absences.

He met and later married the love of his life Ornetta “Nettie” Ann and they spent 41 wonderful years together before her passing in July 1989. Arnold was also preceded in death by daughter Lana Oglesbee; infant brother Tharald, brothers Oscar Anderson, Tharald “Tommy” Anderson; sisters Alice (Julian) Larson, Bella (Joe) Sherette, Emma (Norman) Salverson, and Alma (Al) McKay; dear friend Fred “Brownie” Markley.

Left to cherish his memory are son Steve (Mary) Anderson; grandchildren Scott Oglesbee, Roxanne (Donnie) Oswald, Melanie and Caroline Anderson; son in-law Larry Oglesbee; brother Norris (Elsie) Anderson; sister in- law Lois Anderson; cousin Shirley Herron;  numerous nieces and nephews.

Arnold enjoyed playing cards especially euchre every Friday at the Dublin senior center. He was always active, whether it was going to the YMCA everyday twice a day to walk or take a class through Silver Sneakers club, or whether it was tinkering or working on projects around the house. He enjoyed watching John Wayne movies, M*A*S*H, Gunsmoke, or any classic 60’s- 70’s show. He was also a proud Minnesota Vikings fan, and never missed a game.

His family will remember him as the kind-hearted man, and gentleman that he was, it brought Arnold great joy spending time with his loving family and grandchildren.

Pastor Marvin Hintz  will officiate a funeral service 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 9, 2018 at the Snyder Rodman Funeral Center 101 Valleyside Drive, Delaware, Ohio 43015 where family and friends may call 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Graveside services will take place privately on Monday at Ferncliff Cemetery in Springfield.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed towards SourcePoint  800 Cheshire Road, Delaware, Ohio 43015.

  • Mr. Anderson was my favorite customer at the pharmacy I work at, and seeing him always made my day. He would always take the time to come talk to me and see how I am, always with the biggest smile on his face. I honestly could have talked with him all day.
    I was very sad to hear of his passing, and wanted to send my sincerest condolences to his family and let them know how much he and his interactions have impacted me in the most positive way. He was such a wonderful man, and he and his family will be in my thoughts.
