Arlie R. Mills, Jr., 80, of rural Galion, died Sunday, April 3, 2011 at home, after a short illness.
Born May 10, 1930 in Springfield, he was the son of the late Arlie R. Mills, Sr. and Emma M. Leifeit Mills. He married Lois M. McClish Mills on Sept. 29, 1973 who survives.
Following World War II, Arlie served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Italy. He loved camping and was a scout master of Boy Scout Troup 73 in Springfield. He attended Seventh-day Adventist Church in Galion and was previously a member of the Buckeye Rail Model Engineers Railroad Club in Galion.
Arlie was a tool and dye maker at Hydraulic Components in Galion and at Meyer Pumps in Ashland. He taught machine shop at Tri-Rivers Joint Vocational School in Marion and owned and operated Iberia Tooling Co., a machine shop near Iberia. He retired in 1995.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Brenda and Frank Stidham of Crestline, Rebecca Manning of Romulus, Mich., Pam and Nick Tesso of Crestline and Deborah and Gene Hobbs of Galion; one son and daughter-in-law, William A. and Diana Mills of Westerville; six grandchildren, Nick Tesso, Amanda Tesso, Alyssa Mills, Zach Mills, B.J. Manning and Angela Black and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a step-son, Ted Wolfe; four brothers, Paul, Charles, David and Harold Mills and two sisters, Iris Christian and Mary Reames.
Friends may call from 11 am to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home in Galion where services will follow at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, with Pastor Marcellus de Oliveira officiating. Burial will be in Iberia Cemetery.
