Anthony S.”Tony” Kasper
January 05, 1943 ‒ August 10, 2005
BELLVILLE: Anthony S. “Tony” Kasper, 62, of Poorman Road, Bellville, died Wednesday morning August 10, 2005 in his home following a brave battle with cancer.
He was born January 5, 1943 in New Homestead, Pennsylvania, was graduated from St. Peter’s High School in 1960, and had lived in the Mansfield area most of his life.
Tony enlisted in the U.S. Army in January of 1962. He had service in Vietnam during nearly three years of active duty, and served four years in the U.S. Army Reserves.
For nearly 15 years, Tony had worked with Sprint, most recently as National Systems Administrator. He had previously worked with the U.S. Postal service as a mail carrier on the Bellville village route and also on Rural Route 2, and prior to that worked at Therm-O-Disc.
He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, and more recently had attended New Life Church of Christ in Bellville.
He was a member of Irvin Hiskey Post #535 American Legion, and was always supportive of the Clear Fork Athletic Boosters.
Full of life, Tony had been active golfing, biking and walking, and didn’t have to be asked twice to go out for dinner or head to the beach at Sanibel Island.
His vocation spilled over into his interest in computers, and his love for cooking has left memories of irreplaceable cabbage rolls and infamous soups.
None of these interests interfered with Tony’s time with his family, and supporting his grandchildren at their sporting and school activities.
Tony will be remembered for his always-present smile, his kind and gentle nature, and his willingness to help. Always respectful, he “didn’t have a mean bone in his body” as his life adage was to “treat people the way I wanted to be treated.”
He is survived by his loving wife Marcia K. (Wharton) Kasper, whom he married August 24, 1974; a daughter and son-in-law Cindy and Dennis Golden of Bellville; a son and daughter-in-law Tim and Kelley Thrush of Bellville; grandchildren Ashley Golden, Amanda Golden, Rob Thrush and his fiancée Alesha Sauder, Rod Thrush and his fiancée Shauna Wolf, and Rachel Thrush; his mother Ann Kasper of Ontario; sisters and brothers Barbara and William Breese of South Charleston, West Virginia, Michael and Patricia Kasper of San Antonio, Texas, Mary and Robert Miller of Mansfield, Patricia J. Kasper of Mansfield, Sister Janice Marie DeSales Kasper of Toledo, Richard Kasper of Columbus, Kenneth and Kim Kasper of Mansfield, and Andrew and Lisa Kasper of Mansfield; a sister-in-law Brenda Kasper of New Carlisle; his father-in-law Forrest Wharton of Bellville; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Betty and Virgil Sansom of Bellville; a sister-in-law Dawn Dickerson of Bellville; numerous nieces and nephews; and many cherished co-workers and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Peter Kasper, a brother Thomas Kasper, his mother-in-law Merva Wharton, and a brother-in-law James “Hector” Wharton.
The family will receive friends Friday, August 12, 2005 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home.
