Annetta Kay (Morrison) Rinehart, age 58, of N. Mulberry Street, Mount Vernon, passed away on unexpectedly on Friday, October 31, 2014 at her home. She was born on June 15, 1956 in Mount Vernon, Ohio the daughter of Richard Morrison and JoAnna (Thomas) Graska. Kay served in the United States Army and retired after 13 years of employment with the City of Mansfield. She was a lifetime member of Amvets Post #95 and an avid supporter of ASPCA and the Knox County Humane Society.  Kay was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.

She is survived by her daughter, Deanna (Levi) Furr of Lexington, three grandchildren, Ava, Olivia and Vance Furr, four brothers, Rick (Libby) Morrison of Millwood, David (Paula) Morrison of Tennessee, Larry Bower of Mount Vernon, Tom (Connie) Bower of Gambier, two sisters, Becki (Bill) Metcalf of Mount Vernon, Shawn (Dean) Hammons of Howard, close nieces and nephews, Heather Boyd and her son, Chase Boyd, John (Courtney) Perry III and Christie (James) Phillips.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Keith Bower and Bob Murdock.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 beginning at 11 a.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home where friends may call one hour prior. Pastor Marvin Haught will be officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions in Kay’s name may be made to the Knox County Humane Society, 400 Columbus Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050.

  • I was so sorry to hear of Kay’s passing. I had been a long time friend and neighbor of Kay’s when she still lived in Mansfield. My prayers and thoughts are with Kay’s family now, please know you are all in my thoughts, at this sad time. But, rest assured she is with our Lord now, and he will keep her in his loving arms forever. I also know first hand Kay wanted to be with her Mother once again, and now she has her wish. Amen.   • I’m so sorry to hear about Kay! I love her so much. We were close friends in school. Inseparable! She always made me promise if she passed I would ask to play stairway to Heaven at her funeral. I got to see her a few yes back and she said remember stairway to Heaven, I never forgot I pray they play it for her. We had the best times. R.I.P. Kay I Loce a You always my sweet friend.
