MANSFIELD: Anna Shambre, age 101, of Mansfield passed away peacefully, Tuesday morning, July 28, 2020.

The daughter of Joseph and Nellie (Zorbo) Singell, Anna was born April 13, 1919 in Cleveland.  In 1937 she graduated from Millersburg High School.

On November 8, 1947 she married Joseph Shambre.  Anna’s focus was on raising her two sons and caring for her family.  Anna was a devoted mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed crocheting and cooking.  She had the best fried chicken recipe.  Anna also worked hard in her flower and vegetable gardens each year.

She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ.

Anna is survived by her sons Fred (Colleen) Shambre of Mansfield and Jerry (Linda) Shambre of Orangevale, California; grandchildren Kelly (Mark) Brown, Scott (Kathryn) Shambre, Todd (Julie) Shambre, Adam Shambre, and Tony (Tiffany) Shambre; step grandsons J. Mike Bechtel and Roland Peters; 23 great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Shambre; 8 brothers and sisters; step children Joe Shambre, Jr. and Helen Peters; and granddaughter’s Teresa Shambre, Arlet Shambre, Pam Shambre, and Patty Oscar; step grandchildren Larry and Phil Shambre.

A graveside service will be held Friday, August 7, 2020 at 4 pm in Windsor Park Cemetery.  The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is serving Anna’s family.

  • Anna was a dear lady. She always had a smile and a hug. She will be missed at the Conard House. I will forever think of her when I see fried potatoes:)
