Anna Mae Montgomery

Anna Mae (Davis) Montgomery was born September 4th, 1927 in Beckley, West Virginia, to Ethel (Lively) Davis and French Davis. She grew up in Beckley with her two sisters and a brother in an atmosphere of respect for spiritual and moral values with loving guidance from her parents. Anna attended Alderson Broaddus College in Philippi, West Virginia, where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in nursing. She was in the first ever graduating class of nurses from Alderson Broaddus. Anna followed her nursing career for 22 years until retirement. Her nursing included four years of being Night Shift Floor Supervisor, ten years as Director of Nursing Education and then another five years as Director of Nursing in Columbus area. While in college she met and married William B. Montgomery, tall, handsome, lovable, basketball player. They were married in the chapel on the college campus on August 28th, 1949. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage until Bill died August 29th, 2008, at age 81. Ann (as she was known to her friends) and her husband bill had three sons, Rick, Dan, and Roger. Ann and Bill were serious students of the Bible and in 1960 they were both baptized as Jehovah’s Witnesses. One by one their sons likewise dedicated themselves to do Jehovah’s will. For many years Ann enjoyed camping with her husband, sons, and grandchildren. She enjoyed studying the Bible with interested ones and loved the company of her many friends. Ann is survived by sons, Richard (Patti) of Newark, Daniel (Diane) of Delaware and Roger (Marybeth) of Columbus. Also survived by two sisters, Helen Jackson of Beckley, West Virginia, Jessie (Nelson) Dew of Ghent, West Virginia and a brother Richard (Nancy) Davis of Port St. Lucie, Florida. She also loved her 5 grandchildren, Jacob (Andrea) Montgomery, Deirdre Montgomery, Desiree’ (Charles) Murphey, Richard (Sheryl) Montgomery, and Dielle (Paul) Westfall and 9 great grandchildren, Cole, Madison, Duncan, Ricky, Davis, Sydney, Greg, Daylia and baby Jesse. Ann will be fondly remembered as a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She has always been the caregiver, self sacrificing and loyal. Jehovah is proud of his faithful servant and holds her dearly in his heart and memory. Memorial to honor the life of Anna Montgomery to be held June 4th at 2:00pm at the Zanesville South Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1705 Pine Street, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
