Anna Mae Mardis, 77, of Delaware, died Saturday (Jan. 20, 2007) at Grady Memorial Hospital. She was born March 13, 1929 in Edensburg, Pa. to John and Bertha Wadsworth Hopfer. She lived most of her life in the Delaware area and was retired from the Delaware City School system after working in the food service area at Hayes High School. She was a member of the Grace Brethren Church and enjoyed being at home with her family. She is survived by her husband of 57 years James “Jim” Mardis; three daughters, Judy (Ted) Falter and Kathleen Mardis, both of Delaware, and Shirley (Bill) Axton of Garland, Texas; two grandchildren, Angela (Robert) Lee and Timera (Nick) Seymour; four great-grandchildren, Nathan and Carissa Koebel, Jozlyn and Lincoln Seymour; one brother, John Hopfer, of Mt. Gilead; one sister, Pearl Long, of Johnstown, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Jean Willits and Dorothy Louise Hopfer. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home Bennett Brown Chapel in Delaware. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday with Pastor Darrell Anderson of the Delaware Grace Brethren officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
