Marengo, Ohio

Ann Marie Porter, 79, of Marengo, Ohio passed away Monday, October 28, 2019  unexpectedly but peacefully at her home with her husband Adrian (Bub) of 65 years by her side.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 1, 2019 at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Sunbury with Celebrant Larry DeWitt officiating. Burial will follow in Marengo Cemetery. Visitation will be held from Noon until 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Ann was born April 2, 1940 in Boston, Massachusetts the daughter of the late Peter and Helen Larkin.

Ann worked as a bookkeeper for many years at Hayward Distributing in Columbus, Ohio and for many years kept all the records and did the bookkeeping for all the family owned businesses.  Her and her husband managed Rolling Dough Pizzeria for over 18 years.  Ann was an excellent seamstress.  There wasn’t anything she could not make.  Ann made all the curtains in her home and her husband would help hang them.  She owned her own flower shop and managed a Bridal Shop with her daughter-in-law, Shirley.  She did everything from altering gowns, making headpieces, to doing all the wedding flowers and decorating the tables!  She helped hundreds of girls make their dreams come true on their wedding day, including her children and grandchildren’s weddings.  She started making American Girl doll clothes for her grandchildren’s dolls and that turned into a hobby for her and her husband as he would travel with her to all the various craft shows.  Ann had dual citizenship because both her parents were Irish immigrants.  She got to make a trip of a lifetime with her brother Herb and their spouses a few years ago to Ireland and visit the last remaining relatives.  More than anything, Ann loved her family as they were her proudest achievement.

She was preceded in death by her son: Jack Porter; her infant great grandson: Erich Porter; and her brothers: Robert Larkin and Peter Larkin.

Survivors include her loving husband: Adrian Porter; her son: Joe (Shirley) Porter; her daughters: Cheryle Porter and Chris Porter; her grandchildren: Peter Porter, Andy (Arron) Liszkai, Ross (Megan) Porter, Rilee (Tyler) Rogers, Cara Porter and Sami ( Aaron) Roberts; her great grandchildren: Lily Porter, Ethan Porter, Colten Liszkai, Drew Liszkai, Addi Liszkai, Evelynne Porter, Atlas Porter, Emmery Porter, Kinzlee Rogers, Karson Rogers, Hazel Roberts, Ivy Porter and Ayla Porter; and her brother: Herb Larkin (Debra).

  • What a great person! Hard working, thoughtful, creative and so supportive of her family and others! She certainly made a difference in my life from when she was my Cub Scout Den mother, made the flowers for my wedding through the time she came to College games to watch Ross and Dan play. I am sorry for your loss Bub, Joe and family but take comfort in what a great person she was affecting so many in a positive way.
