Angelo A. Farina

Angelo A. Farina, 80, of Galion, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008 at home after a brief illness.
Born Jan. 28, 1928 in Reading, Pa., he was the son of the late Felix Farina and Anna Greco Farina. He is survived by his wife Barbara A. Walnum Farina and they just celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary Aug. 25.
Angelo graduated from Galion High School in 1946 and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and a Life member of both American Legion Scarbrough Post 243 and V.F.W. Post 4329 of Galion. Angelo enjoyed golf, gardening, walking, spending time with his family and was well known for his big warm hugs and hand shakes. He was a foreman at Geauga Plastics in Crestline and at Ohio Arundale in Mt. Gilead.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and David Pridgen of Raleigh, N.C. and Laura and Don Smith of Galion; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Teri Farina of Westerville and Mark and Debra Farina of Galion; 12 grandchildren, Lisa Rob Safrit, Ben Debbie Farina, Keeley Adam Lorenz, Brandi Gail, Brent Farina, Dane Farina, Megan Doug Black, Jessica Pridgen, Maria Farina, Stefan Farina, Ryan Farina and Taylor Smith; seven great-grandchildren, Bryce Safrit, Brant Safrit, Gavin Lorenz, Mason Lorenz, Piper Farina, Wyatt Farina and Hudson Lorenz; two sisters, Mary Foti of Galion and Rose Jurgeson of Kansas City, Mo. and one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Doris Farina of Ontario.
He was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, April Our Little Angel Farina, five sisters and two brothers.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2008 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Tony Borgia and Father John Brennen. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Military Funeral Honors will be conducted at St. Joseph Catholic Church during the funeral services by the Galion/Crestline area veteran’s organizations.
