Ancil “Tom” Wilson

July 07, 1938 ‒ January 16, 2012

Centerburg, Ohio

Tom Wilson, 73, of Centerburg, passed away Monday, January 16, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Lewis County, Kentucky on July 7, 1938 to the late George W. and Florence (Latham) Wilson.

Tom was a faithful, active member of Green Valley Church in Mt. Vernon. He taught the Senior Sunday School Class where the lady’s adored him.

A hard working man, Tom retired as a driver from Kroger after 30 years. To him, an eight-hour day was equal to a half days work. While Tom worked hard, he retired harder. He truly enjoyed time spent golfing, biking and gardening. A true, loving family man, Tom was often found lying on the floor playing with his grandchildren or letting them ride with him on the tractor while mowing the lawn. Putting his own needs aside, Tom took care of everybody else up until his illness.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda Wilson, whom he married January 17, 1969; son Nick (Nandini Iyer) of Beavercreek; daughter Tammy Wilson of Columbus; sister, Jennie Wilson of Kentucky; grandchildren Jasmine, Sachi, Ruchi and Dulce; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to offer their most heartfelt appreciation to Odyssey Hospice for the kind and gentle care shown to Tom in his battle.

The family will receive friends at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury Wednesday, January 18 from 4-7pm where a celebration of Tom’s life will be at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Dan Taylor presiding.

Memorial donations may be made in Tom’s memory to Odyssey Hospice or to Green Valley Baptist Church.

DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the Wilson Family.
