Alvin M. Ankerson

Alvin Maurice Ankerson, 69, of Lewis Center passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018 at his residence, after an extended battle with cancer.

He was born July 26, 1949 in Wasau, Wisconsin the son of Erving & Shirley Riewstahl. Alvin was later given up for adoption by his birth parents, and would later find a loving home and be adopted by Norman & Naomi Ankerson.

Alvin worked in the shipping and receiving department of Stanley Steamer for over 17 years. He also found joy in working as a game operator for the local fairs during the summer months.

Left to cherish his memory are Wife of 26 years Priscilla Elaine (Evans) Ankerson; son Alvin “Al” Ankerson Jr., daughters Amy Hanson, Amy Washburn, and Tammy Shoup; step-sons Kenneth and Gary Shumaker; step- daughter Janie Speakman; numerous grandchildren; sisters May Smith, Marion Miller, Lynn Martin, and Irene Bublotz; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his biological parents, and adoptive parents, step- son Gregory Shumaker.

In his spare time Alvin enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing cards. Alvin was sometimes a stubborn and outspoken individual, but he will be missed by all those that knew him.

A memorial service celebrating Alvin’s life will be held at a later date.
