Alta DeEtt Weir

MANSFIELD: Alta DeEtt Weir, age 96, of Wedgewood Estates, and formerly of Russell Road, Mansfield, died Friday afternoon September 7, 2001 in Lexington Court Care Center following a short illness.
She was born May 16, 1905 in North Bristol, to Albert and Hettie (Hawkins) Barbe, and was graduated from Mount Union College with her teacher’s certificate.
Mrs. Weir taught for more than 25 years, retiring in 1970 from the Mansfield City Schools System, where she taught in the Johnny Appleseed Junior High School building.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Mansfield, the Mary Sarah Circle of the church and the Monday Study Club.
An avid quilter, Mrs. Weir was also a member of Senior Retirees and the Ohio and National Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law Betty & Ken Berkey of Sarasota, FL, and Peg & Pete Robnolte of Mount Gilead; a daughter-in-law Carol Carr of Miami, FL; five grandchildren Andrew Weir, Lisa Robnolte, Kelley Berkey, Trent Berkey and Melissa Burrows; and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Dwight Weir, and a son Tom Weir.
The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is arranging services for the family. Private interment will be in Bristolville Cemetery, Bristolville.
