BELLVILLE: Allene Schonauer, 68, of Rule Road, Bellville, died Wednesday morning April 30, 2003 in her home following a long illness.
She was born October 10, 1934 in Red Oak, Maryland, to Nay T. and Merrill E. (Cooper) Arnold, and was graduated from Southern Garrett County High School in 1953, and shortly thereafter moved to the Bellville area.
Allene had worked as a dental assistant and office manager for nearly fifty years with Dr. R. W. Webster in Mansfield and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
She was the only member of the “The Grammy Club” devoting all of her free time to her grandchildren, rather than herself.
She is survived by her husband Gene Schonauer, whom she married February 21, 1968; her daughter and son-in-law Kelly & Chris Shinabarker of Mansfield; step children Kevin and Marsha Schonauer of Lexington, Karin Bouvier of Inverness, Florida, Kim Hansen of Mt. Gilead, and Kyle and Joy Schonauer of Ontario; grandchildren Ellie and C.J., Eric, Steven, Dillan, Shelbi, Bailey, Colin, Tiffany, Joe, Mandy, and Lindsey; great grandson Joey; two brothers and sisters-in-law Richard and Helen Arnold of Mount Gilead and Willard and Edna Arnold of Mansfield; a sister-in-law Pat Arnold of Lucas; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Max and Kathleen Schonauer of Fredericktown, Maxine and Cliff Hardin of Mansfield, and Helen McCoy of Mount Vernon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Donald Arnold, a brother-in-law Gary Schonauer; and two sisters-in-law Barbara Scott and Eileen Lemley.
Friends may call Friday May 2, 2003 from 4-8 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 am in New Life Church of Christ, 195 West Durbin Avenue, Bellville, with Pastor Steve Kistler officiating. Burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to MedCentral Hospice may be made at the funeral home.
