LUCAS: Alice Katherine “Kate” Berry, age 93, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017 in Samaritan University Hospital in Ashland. After a month of fighting, she is now at peace with the Lord & Savior.

Kate was born August 7, 1923 to parents William & Frances (VeRelle) Runyon in Akron.

On November 1, 1942, she married Doyle Dean Berry and they shared 47 wonderful years of marriage until he passed away in 1989.

A social butterfly by nature, Kate was involved in many different groups and enjoyed being with others. Kate was a faithful member at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lucas going on many of their bus trips. She was also one of the members of the Trimble Road Reunion never missing a year, was involved with the Mothers Club in Lucas and very active in numerous senior groups and activities.

She was an expert seamstress and the “crochet queen of the world” being able to make just about anything. She kept a big garden having many flowers and enjoyed canning. A great cook, she was famous for her pies, having used her pies as payment for repairs. Her rhubarb, peach & butterscotch pies were family favorites! Kate cherished time spent with her family, taking trips to South Carolina and Florida as well as going out to eat and shopping. But above all she enjoyed every moment she got with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by daughters; Rosealene “Rosie” Au and Doylene (Thomas) Johnson; grandchildren Billy (Nicole) Au, Belinda (Korre) Boyer, Bryan Johnson and Kristi (Brandon) Kline; great-grandchildren Brock, Carter, Reagan, Colton, Braden, Madison, Brody and Alexis; sister-in-law Pauline Runyon; her feline friend Blackie as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to her loving husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Frances Ann Blust; brother John Runyon and sons-in-law William Kenneth Au and Jerry Blust.

Friends are invited to call 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2017 in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. A funeral service honoring her life will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2017 in St. Paul Lutheran Church (106 West Main Street, Lucas). • We are so sorry for the passing of your dear loved one. May the family find peace and comfort from Gods promise to reunite us with our family and friends by means of an earthly resurrection (John 5:28,29). At that time, we will no longer experience the pain of losing someone we love because God has also promised to eliminate death forever (Isaiah 25:8). We all eagerly await the fulfillment of these wonderful promises from our Heavenly Father. Please accept our sincere condolences.
