Alice "Irene" Cherrington

Alice “Irene” Cherrington, 91, of Galion passed away Wednesday, April 09, 2014 at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus after a short illness.
Born March 18, 1923, she was the daughter of Owen and Alice (Danbaugh) Cherrington.
Irene attended Marengo Schools. She worked at the family restaurant in Fulton and the telephone company in Mt. Gilead, and retired after many years at Essex Wire/Hamilton Std. in Lexington. Irene was an active member of the Wesley Chapel in Galion. She loved spending time with her family and decorating, especially around the holidays. Irene enjoyed cleaning, gardening and her chocolate candy, and always took pride in her appearance.
She is survived by sisters Janet Collins of Mansfield, Kay (John) Arnold of Murfreesboro, TN and Carol Dille of Galion; nieces Cassandra Dille of Galion, Scarlett Goodwin of Marion, Joanna Jervis of Kentucky and Victoria Smith of Ashland; nephews Brent Cherrington of Montana and Eric Thompson of Marion; great nieces and great nephews, Desiree Weber, Krystal Thompson “her baby”, Chad Thompson, Holly Perkins, Brandon Dille, Dakota & Aaliyah Thompson, Jasmine Weber, Taylor Fullenlove and Prestyn Smith; great great niece and bright spot Nakian Cameron; numerous nieces and nephews; her close friend Barb Blanton of rural Marion County and a sister-in-law Mary Jo Cherrington.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Henry and John Cherrington and longtime love Merwin Grove.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2014 at Snyder Funeral Home Richardson Davis Chapel in Galion where services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014 with Rev. Joe Stafford officiating. Graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m.at Oak Grove Cemetery in Logan.
