Alfred O. Morris, age 90, of Columbus Road, Fredericktown passed away on Wednesday August 4, 2004 at Whispering Hills Care Center in Mount Vernon. He was born on February 18, 1914 in Ashland County to the late George Lee and Blanche (Bradrick) Morris. Mr. Morris retired in 1973 after 35 years of employment with Pittsburgh Plate Glass and was owner of Morris Dry Cleaners in Fredericktown and Gambier. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fredericktown, Thrall Lodge F&AM, Ann Hill Chapter of the Ohio Eastern Star, 50 year member and past commander of the American Legion and Knights of Pythias. Mr. Morris was one of the founders for little league baseball in Fredericktown. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, coon hunting and searching for mushrooms. Mr. Morris served in the United States Navy during World War II.
He is survived by a son, Carl (Linda) Morris of Bellville, two daughters, Leota (Harlan) Park of Oakridge, Tennessee, Ann (Larry) Ullman of Fredericktown, seven grandchildren, Mark Morris, Michael Morris, Melissa Porter, Tonya Mason, Todd Park, Matt Ullman, Buffy Lee Ann Barclay and 14 great grandchildren.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife Vivian (Ebersole) Morris, two brothers, George Morris, Earl Morris, two sisters, Frances Hall, Elizabeth Bellew, a son-in-law Tom Park and a granddaughter, Dawn Malburg.
Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 PM and Saturday from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown where a funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 PM. Rev. Mary Miller will be officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans council will follow in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
