Albert L. “Skeet” Morton

MANSFIELD ~ Albert L. “Skeet” Morton of Mansfield passed away Thursday afternoon August 26, 2010 in Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus following a heart attack. He was 67.

He was born January 2, 1943 in Crestline to Herbert L. and Ethel (Reamsnider) Morton. He was graduated from Butler High School in 1961, where he was a four-year letterman in both basketball and football, and was on the 1960 undefeated football team.

A U.S. Army veteran, he is survived by his wife Luisa M. Morton; a brother Brent (Janet) Mellott and a sister Kaylene (Carl Looney) Shortridge all of Butler; nieces Jessica Mellott and Tiffany Shortridge, nephews Jared Mellott, Jason Shortridge, and Craig (Kathy) Shortridge; great nieces and great nephews Zac Palmer, Alyssa Shortridge, Devon Shortridge and Bryce Shortridge.

He was preceded in death by his father Herbert Morton; his mother Ethel Mellott; and his stepfather Robert E. Mellott.

Skeet was a kind and gentle man who had the greatest heart. He never had an unkind word to say about anyone and he will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

The Morton family will receive friends Monday, August 30, 2010 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home, where his funeral service will immediately follow at 7 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Michael V. Stine will officiate. Interment with military honors, conducted by Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail will be Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at noon in Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville.
