Adrian J. “Bub” Porter, 84, of Marengo, Ohio passed away Sunday, June 6, 2021 at Marion General Hospital with his family by his side.

He was born on February 10, 1937 in Mt. Gilead to the late Lowell and Evelyn (Joy) Porter and graduated from Marengo High School in 1955. A lifelong farmer, he also worked with Lane Aviation in his younger years, refueling and tending to airplanes. He also owned and operated Croton Elevator along with his sister, Phyllis.

Adrian married Ann Marie (Larkin) in 1954 and together they shared 64 wonderful years of marriage. Adrian helped Ann with her many endeavors and together they managed Rolling Dough Pizzeria for 18 years.  Sadly, Ann passed away in 2019.

He served as a 4-H advisor for the Boots n Saddles club for 20 years. A horseman at heart, he enjoyed woodworking, and being outside with his animals, horses, and mini-donkeys. Adrian took great joy in attending the many activities of his grandchildren. He also favored the families original Fordson Major Diesel tractor recently restored by his son.  Stern and strong he was a good husband and father who will be remembered for his devotion to family.

He is survived by his loving children: Cheryle Porter, Joe (Shirley) Porter, and Chris Squires all of Marengo; his grandchildren: Peter Porter, Andy (Arron) Liszkai, Ross (Megan) Porter, Rilee (Tyler) Rogers, Cara Porter and Sami (Aaron) Roberts; his great-grandchildren: Lily Porter, Ethan Porter, Colten Liszkai, Drew Liszkai, Addi Liszkai, Evelynne Porter, Atlas Porter, Emmery Porter, Kinzlee Rogers, Karson Rogers, Hazel Roberts, Ivy Porter and Ayla Porter, sisters Rita (Bob) Jackson of MA, Phyllis (Les) Marcum of Marengo, extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son: Jack Porter; infant great grandson: Erich Porter.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 am on Wednesday at Marengo Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Sunbury.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to OhioHealth Hospice, 100 McKinley Park Dr., Marion, Ohio 43302.

  • I am so very sorry to hear of Bud’s passing. I was very happy to spend time with him and my cousin Anne in 2015. They are now reunited – pain free and in each other arms together forever ♥️.
