Addaline V. Freshwater
March 15, 1925 ‒ August 30, 2008
Addaline V. Freshwater, age 83, of Marion, went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, August 30, 2008, at the Marion Manor Nursing Home following a seven year battle with cancer.
She was born in Marion, Ohio, on March 15, 1925, the daughter of the late John and Crystal (Maples) Runkle.
On August 24, 1947, Addaline married her loving husband of 45 years, James “Jack” Freshwater, in Marion. He preceded her in death in 1992.
For many years, Addaline co-owned and operated the Crystal and Addaline Welcome Variety Store with her mother. Following working at the store, she again worked for herself with her own cleaning service for buildings and houses.
A woman of deep faith, Addaline religiously watched Channel 39 in Marion, who often prayed for her and her health troubles.
With a love for arts and crafts, Addaline made countless things for family and friends, including afghans, quilts, and dolls.
Always putting her family first, Addaline most enjoyed her family get togethers, especially during the holidays.
She will be missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Jewell & Kay Freshwater of Marion; two grandchildren: Nicholas and Phillip Freshwater; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Including her husband and parents, Addaline was preceded in death by her infant son, Robert Lee Freshwater; two brothers: Robert and Harold Runkle; and three sisters: Awanda Haycook, Iola Mahaffey, and Audrey Kibler.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Pastor Naomi Beckel officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Channel 39, 1282 N. Main St., Marion, Ohio 43302.
