LEXINGTON: A. Christine Long Treece, 76, of Lexington, died Sunday evening July 23, 2006.
Her death, following a short illness, was in Oak Grove Manor Nursing Home with her family at her side.
Christine, as most knew her, was born on March 22, 1930 in Bloomington, Indiana. She was the child of Ruth (Shifflet) McGuire and Clovis McGuire. She was raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana, by her mother and stepfather Charles A. Sprague, and was graduated from North Side High School in Fort Wayne.
She married Ralph Long on November 18, 1948 and there were three children born to this marriage.
Most of her adult life was spent in the Bellville and Mansfield areas.
Christine was a member of Pythian Sisters of Bellville for many years, as well as the Women’s Auxiliary of the VFW in Mansfield and Lexington.
Chapel Hill United Methodist Church near Bellville was her church home for most of her life.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law Roma and Roger Paulsen of Bellville and Gail and Michael Balser of Lakeland, Florida; a son Lyle Long of Mansfield; nine grandchildren Michelle and her husband Dave Skok, Christie Cline Colbert, Steve Patton, Elijah and Seth Balser, Tina, Bobbie, Brianna and Nathaniel Long; and four great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her second husband Clifford Treece and a great grandson.
A worship service, celebrating her life, will be held Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at 1 pm in Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 3716 Bellville North Road. The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is serving the family.
