Margaret Sue Lee, a long time resident of Elyria, Ohio, but a recent resident of Sunbury, Ohio passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2020 after a long battle with many ongoing health issues. She was the widow of Loyd Lee.  They were married for 40 years.

Born in Jackson, Ohio Sue was the daughter of the late Charles and Stella Montgomery.  She graduated from Jackson High School and was one class shy of a degree from Lorain County Community College. She was a preschool director, a teaching assistant, and later a church secretary.

Most recently she was a member of The Bridge Church in Sunbury, but was a member of College Heights Baptist Church and then its offshoot Elyria Baptist Church for 40 years.  She was a favorite Sunday School teacher for children and adults. All of the children of the church knew that she had a ready supply of candy in her purse.

Sue is survived by her sons, Shawn Prater-Lee and his wife Lisl of Poughkeepsie, NY, David Lee and his wife Liana of Sunbury, and Daniel Lee and his wife Jina Varanasi-Lee of Worthington, Ohio. “Grammy” as she was known in the family is also survived by five amazing grandchildren; Christiana, Gillian, Christopher, Indira and Jennifer.  Sue was also preceded in death by her daughter, Kristen, who passed away in 1996 at the age of 13 .

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 12 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria, OH.   Graveside visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service.

  • I went to The Bridge church with your mom & grandma. Her bible knowledge and love for Jesus impressed me so much. She was a special lady and will be missed. I know she’s in heaven now dancing on two good legs, with no health problems, and no pain.
