Russell Brook Hawk

Russell Brook Hawk, age 82, of Fredericktown, died Saturday January 12, 2002 at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon after suffering an apparent heart attack at his home. Russell was born May 27, 1919 in Shelby to Arthur and Helen (Schrock) Hawk and had spent his lifetime in Richland and Knox counties. He had been an employee of the Shelby Steel Tube Company prior to and after serving with the U S Navy during world war two. Most of his lifetime Russell was a devoted farmer. He also worked as a carpenter and a commercial livestock hauler.
He was a member of the American Legion, and the Mount Vernon Moose Lodge.
Surviving are his wife Florence (Harvey) Hawk; four daughters Martha (Larry) Lehman and Marie (Dwayne) Washer all of Mansfield, Janet Hawk of Billings, Missouri and Carol Robison of Fredericktown; a step daughter Luana (Leroy) King of Grass Lake, Michigan, a step son John (Jan) Dorion of Mansfield; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; Two brothers Richard Hawk of Shelby and Gerald Hawk of Ashland; and two sisters Ila Cooke of Hollywood, Florida and Maryann Danas of Mansfield. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Orin Hawk and three sisters Ada Hammer, Laura Dent, and Martha Adkins.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2to4 and 6to8 PM at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown where funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 AM. Burial with military honors will be in Mansfield Cemetery.
