Ronnie VanHoose, age 63, of County Road 30, Mount Gilead, died on Monday afternoon, April 2, 2007, at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born in Mechanicsburg, Ohio, on February 4, 1944, the son of the late Russell Jay and Lydia Margaret (Estep) VanHoose. Ron graduated from the Brookfield High School in the Class of 1962.
On January 28, 1978, Ron married his loving wife of over 29 years, Karen Sue (Kawecki) VanHoose, at the Lighthouse Tabernacle in Girard, Ohio. Together they moved to Mount Gilead twenty seven years ago. They will forever share fond memories of their vacations.
Ron worked as a salesman, most notably working for C & D Chevrolet, Inc. Also, he was a member of the Mount Gilead Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Ron will be missed by two sons: Jason VanHoose of Youngstown, and Andrew VanHoose of Mount Gilead; two daughters: Victoria VanHoose of West Middlesex, Pennsylvania, and Lydia VanHoose of Mount Gilead; two grandchildren: Courtney and Bruno VanHoose; brother: Roger (Pam) VanHoose of Mount Gilead; and a brother-in-law: Charles Hudgel of Mount Gilead.
Ron was preceded in death by his mother and father; brother: Delmar VanHoose; and three sisters: LaVern Schwartz, Juanita “Nita” Hudgel, and Emma Jane Van Hoose.
The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead, where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Lawrence Combs officiating. Burial will follow in Iberia Cemetery.
