Harold R. Gordon, age 73, of Frye Road, Mount Vernon, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2005 at the Inn at HillenVale. He was born on February 11, 1932 in Muskingum County to the late Robert and Goldie (Houston) Gordon. He had retired from the United States Air Force and most recently retired in 1989 after 22 years of employment with the State of Ohio. Harold was a member of the Amvets and Eagles both of Mount Vernon.
He is survived by two daughters, Christine (Don Severino) Knighton of Newark, Jimi (Kent) Mottinger of Candler, North Carolina, a son, Kenneth (Dawn) Gordon of Defiance, Ohio, four step sons, Mike (Deb) Canterbury of Mount Vernon, Randy (Cloyd McManis) Canterbury of Fredericktown, Rocky (Tammie) Canterbury of Mount Vernon, Chris (SoYoung) Mickley of Columbus, twenty grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a brother, Richard Gordon of Thornville.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Bessie Sue (Pauley) Gordon and a brother, Robert Gordon.
Friends may call Monday from 1 to 2 PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home where a funeral will follow at 2 PM. Burial with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
