Gladys Pearl Lambert, age 87, of Mount Vernon and formerly of Tazewell, Virginia died Monday, December 29, 2008 at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon. Gladys was born May 23, 1921 in Tazewell County, Virginia to Jonah B. and Barbara (Waldron) Linkous. She had been a clerk at the Amonate Virginia Post Office and had also worked at the cafeteria at the Tazewell High School.
Gladys was a lifetime member of the Linkous Chapel Church at Dry Fork, Virginia and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Berwind, West Virginia.
Surviving are her sons Billy (Barbara) Lambert of Centerburg, Ohio and David L (Carole) Lambert of Mount Vernon, Ohio; her grandchildren Ed (Lori) Lambert and Sally (Jim) Simpson; her great grandchildren Brandt Lambert, Skyler Simpson and Tristen Simpson; her brothers George H. Linkous of Tazewell, Virginia and Edward (Rachel) Linkous of Sparta, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Ohio. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 pm at the Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, Virginia where friends may call Friday from Noon until time of the service at 2 pm. Rev. Max Linkous and Rev. Kenny Fields will officiate the services. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens at Bluefield, Virginia.
