LEXINGTON: Elsie Elizabeth Swanger, age 83, of Lexington passed away Friday morning, January 15, 2016 in Millcreek Nursing and Rehabilitation following an extended illness.
She was born October 2, 1932 in Athens County to the late Nip and Mary (Jackson) Bullock, and moved to Richland County in her early 20s.
For 15 years, Elsie worked at Therm-O-Disc as a press operator, retiring in 1993.
Elsie was a member of Crossroads Community Church, and enjoyed traveling. An avid reader, Elsie loved getting lost in a good novel. She took great pride in caring for her family; Elsie was a wonderful cook, always prepared to make their favorites. She also enjoyed cross stitch and stimulating the local economy once in awhile with a shopping trip or two.
Elsie is survived by; two children Sandra K. Carsey of Pavonia and David J. and Michelle Carsey of Mansfield; five granddaughters, seven great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Betty Waller of Corpus Christi, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Swanger, who passed away October 2, 2015 as well as thirteen siblings.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 22, 2016 at 2 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where the family will receive friends the hour prior. Pastor Ken Kinley will officiate and burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions in honor of Elsie to the American Cancer Society may be made through the funeral home.
