Dr. James R. Leventry DDS, age 66, of Newark Road, Mount Vernon, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, October 5, 2012.
He was born on April 16, 1946 in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Lewis and Nancy (Baxter) Leventry. Dr. Leventry moved to the Mount Vernon area in 1972 and has had his dental practice for over 40 years. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Lodge #9 F.&AM in Mount Vernon, Land of Legend Fly Tiers in Newark, past president of the Knox County Fish and Game, Ducks Unlimited, and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Dr. Leventry coached football for over 25 years at Utica High School.
He is survived by his wife, of over 43 years, Susan (Dickey) Leventry; his daughter Ellen (Thom) Devault of Newark; his son Robert (Nicole) Leventry of Carver, MA; two grandchildren, Ryan and Maddison Leventry; and his brother Jack (Peggy) Leventry of Bedford, Ohio.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Margaret Meyers.
Friends may call on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home from 4-7PM. A masonic service will follow beginning at 7PM. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, beginning at 10AM with Rev. David Kendal-Sperry and Rev. Diane Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
