MANSFIELD: Rusty A. Amstutz, age 51, of Mansfield passed away in his home Sunday, January 10, 2010 following an apparent heart attack.

Rusty was born December 16, 1958 in Mansfield to Harley and Carol (Phelps) Amstutz. Athletic and committed Rusty was a multisport athlete. He was running back on Lexington’s football team and he also wrestled. He graduated from Lexington in 1977.

Following high school Rusty worked with his father and brother, Tim, at Amstutz Auto Parts in Mansfield. In 1988 Harley retired and Rusty and Tim became owners. Using his knowledge of cars in 2001 he took an opening at Courtesy Auto Mall in Mansfield and recently at Buckeye Chrysler in Shelby as a sales associate.

Often Rusty tied his love of nature with the thrill and excitement of sports. In the summer he would boat at Apple Valley as well as Pleasant Hill Lake. Winter brought Rusty gliding down the snow covered slopes of Snow Trails Ski Lodge. He was also a loyal fan of the Cleveland Browns.

He was a member of FOE in Mansfield as well as Grace Brethren Church on Marion Avenue.

Rusty will be remembered for his easy going personality.

He is survived by his mother Carol Amstutz of Mansfield; brothers and sister-in-law Tim and Rosemary Amstutz of Mansfield and Randy Amstutz of Venice, Florida; niece McKenzie, nephews Aaron, Alex, and Matthew; special friend Linda Dougherty, as well as numerous extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father Harley Amstutz.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Rusty A. Amstutz will be held today Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 5pm in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. The Rev. Chris Thomas will officiate.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Rusty Amstutz Memorial Fund and may be made at the funeral home.
