Donnie Ray Hamilton, 56 of Columbus and formerly Delaware County, died Saturday morning December 26, 2009 at St Ann’s Hospital.
He was born on April 19, 1953 in Floyd County, KY to the late James E. Hamilton and Elsie (Hall) Hamilton of Columbus. He was a retired truck driver for Allied Moving.
Donnie enjoyed working on his truck and watching old westerns. He loved to wear his cowboy boots and baseball cap and he had a bit of a stubborn streak.
In addition to his mother he is survived by sons: Danny R. Hamilton of Mount Vernon, James R. Hamilton of Bumpass, Va.; daughters: Alicia Kay Hamilton formerly of Mount Vernon, Judy A. Ruff of Ashley; host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and one uncle; brothers: Tracy Hamilton of Mount Gilead, Jackie (Melinda) Hamilton of Mount Gilead; sister: Debbie (Elroy) Sawyers of Lester, WV; sister-in-law: Connie Hamilton of Delaware.
Preceded in death by brother: Mark T. Hamilton; sister: Louise “Sissy” Hamilton
Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury where services will be held Wednesday 11 a.m. with Pastor Chris Kinner officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunbury Memorial Park.
