"His Lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." Matthew 25:21

David “Mark” Bell, Sr., age 51, of Mount Gilead passed away Friday morning, November 6, 2009, surrounded by his family at his home following a two year battle with brain cancer.

On February 13, 1958, Mark was born in Mansfield, Ohio, the son of Dave E. and W. Jane (Keller) Bell. He graduated from Clear Fork High School in the Class of 1976. He later received his Associates Degree in Nursery Management from the Agricultural Technical Institute in Wooster in 1982.

It was “pure chemistry” from day one when Mark met his best friend and bride to be, Pamela A. Moehrman, in their Chemistry class at Columbus Tech. They were married on September 12, 1981 and shared over 28 wonderful years together.

With a love of working, Mark spent many years with his father taking care of Bellwood Nursery on Possum Run Road. In 2001, he took a job with the Morrow County Highway Department, where he found great joy in plowing the roads of Morrow County. Mark also helped out part time at Tidy Tim’s in Edison for several years. Due to his failing health, Mark retired in the Spring of 2008.

A faithful servant of the Lord, Mark was a member of the Church of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Cardington, where he served as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist. He was also very involved in the Knights of Columbus Council # 14671, where he was a founding member and a Three Year Trustee.

As long as Mark was outside, he was happy. He enjoyed working in the yard and taking care of his trees and plants. He also had a passion for working with wood, especially in his remodeling of the family home. Mark was a skilled repair man who could fix anything. He was so good his family rarely got anything new; he would just fix what they already had.

A loving and faithful father and husband, Mark would always look out for the needs of others. He will never be forgotten by those whose lives he has touched.

Mark will be dearly missed by his wife, Pam Bell of Mount Gilead; his parents, Dave E. and W. Jane Bell of Mansfield; eight children: David Bell, Jr. of Columbus, Brandon (Krystle) Bell of Mount Vernon, Weston, Anna, Nathan, Mary, Clara, and Joseph Bell, all of the home; three grandchildren: Bryce Moodispaugh, Emily and Mikaela Bell, and another grandchild on the way; his brother, Craig (Rhonda) Bell and their children: Cameron and Morgan Bell, all of Jacksonville Beach, Florida; all of the loving members of his extended family and friends, including the County Highway family, especially pothole patching partner, George.

The Bell family will greet friends from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. on Monday, November 9, 2009 at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead, where a Rosary Service will be held at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Tuesday at the Church of the Sacred Hearts, 4680 U.S. Route 42, Cardington, at 11 a.m. with Father John Bakle and Father Charles Foeller officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Lockbourne, Ohio.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Morrow County, 228 South Street, Mount Gilead, Ohio 43338.
